Managing field features
How to review, edit, and organise field features from the Archer portal.
Platform: Portal
The portal is the best place to review field features across a site, tidy up names and attributes, and remove stale entries. You can't draw new features here with GPS accuracy — but you can edit anything you've captured in the field.
Viewing features for a vineyard
-
In the portal, open Manage → Vineyards and choose the vineyard.
-
Open the Features (or map) view.

You can filter by category or type to focus on one kind of feature at a time (for example, just irrigation).
Editing a feature
-
Click the feature on the map, or find it in the feature list.
-
Click Edit.
-
Update the name, attributes, or notes.
-
Click Save.

Deleting a feature
- Click the feature to open it.
- Click Delete and confirm.
Deleted features are removed from the map and from mobile devices on their next sync. There's no trash/undo, so double-check before confirming.
Bulk operations
If you have a lot of features to update — for example, renaming all the irrigation headers after a numbering change — use the feature list view. You can sort and filter to find what you need and edit each in turn.
Managing categories and types
The list of categories and types available to your organisation is managed separately (by an admin user). If your team is routinely adding features as "Other" because the type they need doesn't exist, that's a sign the taxonomy needs updating — have a chat with whoever manages your organisation's configuration.
Tips
- Do a tidy-up pass after a mapping day. It's easier to fix small mistakes in attributes from the portal with a proper keyboard than from a phone in the field.
- Use the portal to standardise names — especially if multiple people are adding features from different devices.
