Creating a vineyard
How to create a new vineyard in the Archer portal.
Platform: Portal
A vineyard represents a single physical site. You need at least one vineyard before you can start mapping blocks or recording trouble spots against a site.
Before you start
- You need to be signed in to the portal with permission to manage vineyards in your organisation.
- Have the vineyard's basic details ready (name, location, any reference info you want to record).
Steps
-
In the portal, open the Manage menu and choose Vineyards.

-
Click Add vineyard.
-
Enter the vineyard's details:
- Name — how it will appear in the app and portal. Pick something recognisable, especially if you manage several sites.
- Sub region — pick the sub region this vineyard sits in from the dropdown. The list is configured at the platform level and is used for grouping and reporting across vineyards.
- Primary weather station — optional. Select the weather station that best represents conditions at this vineyard. Only stations configured for your organisation appear in the list.
- Secondary weather station — optional. A fallback station, used when the primary isn't reporting.

-
Click Submit.
The vineyard now appears in the vineyards list and is available on mobile devices once they next sync.
What's next
- Map a block inside your new vineyard using the mobile app.
- Set up any field features you want to record on the site.
Tips
- You can't delete a vineyard that has blocks or recorded data against it. Think carefully about naming before you create one — renaming later is easier than starting over.
- Field devices only see vineyards in the organisations (management groups) they're signed in to. If a user says "I can't see the new vineyard on my phone", check that they're in the right management group and have synced.
