Block sheet and planting settings

View and edit a block's per-row block sheet (linear metres, plants, posts) and its planting settings (plant spacing and plants per bay) on the portal and mobile app.

Platform: Mobile and portal

Every block has two related sets of numbers that drive its plant and post estimates:

Planting settings — the plant spacing and plants per bay for the block. By default these are inherited from the vineyard, and can be overridden per block.
The block sheet — a per-row table showing linear metres, estimated and actual positions, subtractions, and the resulting plants and posts for each row.

Planting settings feed the block sheet: change the spacing and every row's estimate updates. Both are also used by the row calculator.

Planting settings

A block's plant spacing and plants per bay each come from one of three places, shown by a small source chip next to the value:

Block — a value set directly on this block (an override). (On the portal this chip reads Set on block.)
Inherited — no block value is set, so the block uses the vineyard default. (On the portal this chip reads From vineyard, and shows the inherited value — for example, From vineyard (0.95 m).)
Not set — neither the block nor the vineyard has a value.

The vineyard defaults are first set when you create the vineyard — see Creating a vineyard. Anything you set on the block overrides that default; clear it and the block falls back to inheriting again.

If plant spacing is Not set (on the block and the vineyard), estimated positions and plant counts stay blank — the app can't estimate plants without a spacing. You can still record actual positions and subtractions in the block sheet.

Editing planting settings (portal)

Open Maps and select the block on the map.
In the block panel on the right, find the Planting section. It shows Plant spacing and Plants per bay, each with its source chip.

Select the pencil (edit) button next to the Planting heading.
Enter a Spacing (m) and/or Plants per bay. To make the block inherit the vineyard default instead, leave that field blank — the placeholder shows what you'll inherit.

Select Save. The chips update to Set on block (where you entered a value) or From vineyard (where you left a field blank to inherit), and the block's plant and post totals refresh.

Spacing must be a positive number of metres; plants per bay must be a positive whole number.

Editing planting settings (mobile)

Open a vineyard, then open the block to reach the block detail screen.
In the Planting section you'll see Plant spacing and Plants per bay, each with a Block, Inherited, or Not set chip.

Tap Edit next to the Planting heading to open the planting settings dialog.
Enter Plant spacing (m) and/or Plants per bay. Leave a field blank to inherit the vineyard default — the hint shows the inherited value (for example, From vineyard: 0.95 m).

Tap Save. The block's totals refresh with the new estimates.

The block sheet

The block sheet is a per-row table for a single block. Each row of the table is one row in the field, and shows:

Column	What it means
#	The row number.
Linear m	The measured length of the row, from the block's geometry.
Estimated	The estimated number of plant positions for the row, worked out from the length and the block's plant spacing.
Actual	An optional override for the real number of positions, when you've counted them on the ground.
Subtractions	An optional count of plants removed from the row (gaps, missing vines).
Plants	The resulting plant count: `(actual or estimated) − subtractions`, never below zero.
Posts	The resulting post count, worked out from the positions and plants per bay.

Estimated vs actual

Estimated values are calculated for you from the row's linear metres and the block's plant spacing. They appear automatically and need no input.
Actual is an override. Enter it only when you know the real positions for that row — it then replaces the estimate in all the downstream counts.
Subtractions reduce the plant count but not the post count (posts follow the positions, since the posts still stand where vines are missing).
A row with an Actual or Subtractions value is marked as overridden. You can clear a single row's overrides with its reset button, or clear them all with Reset all.

If plant spacing is Not set, the Estimated and Plants columns stay blank — you can still type Actual and Subtractions values.

Opening and editing the block sheet (portal)

Open Maps and select the block.
In the block panel, select the Block sheet button (under the Planting section).

The Block sheet dialog opens, listing every row with its Linear m, Estimated, Actual, Subtractions, Plants, and Posts. A banner at the top shows which plant spacing is being used for the estimates (and where it came from).

To override a row, type a value into its Actual and/or Subtractions field. The Plants and Posts for that row update as you type. The footer tracks how many rows are overridden (for example, 3 of 28 rows overridden).

To undo a row, select its reset button (the circular arrow); to clear every override, select Reset all.
Select Save and confirm. Your overrides are saved and the block's plant and post totals update across the app. Select Cancel to close without saving.

Opening the block sheet (mobile)

Open a vineyard, then open the block to reach the block detail screen.
Tap the Block sheet button.

The block sheet opens with the same per-row values — linear metres, estimated and actual positions, subtractions, plants, and posts. Edit a row's values and save; the block's totals refresh when you return to the detail screen.
