Editing block details

How to change a block's name, variety, or other attributes.

Platform: Portal and mobile

You can edit a block's details (name, variety, attributes) on either the portal or the mobile app. The boundary itself is usually only re-drawn from the mobile app, in the field.

What you can edit

  • Name
  • Variety
  • Row spacing and trellising attributes (where applicable)
  • Notes and other custom fields

Editing attributes doesn't create a new block version by itself — that only happens when you change the boundary or other geometry. See Block versioning.

From the portal

  1. Open Manage → Vineyards and choose the vineyard.

  2. Find the block in the block list and click it.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Update the fields you want to change.

  5. Click Save.

From the mobile app

  1. Open the Mapping tab.

  2. Select the vineyard, then tap the block you want to edit.

  3. Tap Edit details.

  4. Update the fields.

  5. Tap Save.

Re-drawing a block boundary

If you need to change the shape of a block — for example, because the original capture was wrong or because the planting has actually changed — that's usually done on the mobile app by capturing a new boundary. This creates a new draft version of the block; the previously released version stays in place until you release the new one.

See Mapping a block for the capture workflow and Block versioning for how to release the new version.
